More groceries
(For any new readers, I’m trying to live under the Thrifty Food Plan for a month. See this post for background.)
We were entirely out of milk, so went to Trader Joe’s. And we never manage to get out of there with just milk.

So, after 5 days, we’ve spent $112.38 (not including the cat food). I was definitely worrying about blowing the budget, so distracted D. when he asked for Pirate Booty.

Hmmm… Our little family of three only has a weekly budget of $80.60 on the thrifty food plan. I noticed that your milk at TJ’s cost less than the milk at my TJ’s over at Baileys Xroads. I think I pay $2.99 a gallon. Unfortunately, DD drinks organic whole milk at $4.99 a gallon so she’s blown about 25% of her weekly budget just on milk. I’m way over the budget for this week, but I choose to blame it on a diaper sale at Harris Teeter. I’m very intrigued by the thrifty food plan and will try to plan better for this upcoming week in order to meet the budget.

WOW!! Only $1.06 on tax. Here in Lynchburg, it would have been more like $6. My $3.00 Starbucks has $.35 in tax total. Its crazy.
