bird songs

Tonight was the parent orientation at N’s new preschool, and kids weren’t invited, so a friend babysit for the boys.  She brought over a really cool book that I had never heard of, so I thought I’d share my enthusiasm.  It’s a book of birds, but it includes digital recording of the sounds that the birds make.  It’s like the noisy books that my kids love, but educational and not as annoying (and it has a volume control).

There’s a new one coming out of birds from around the world but I think I’d rather figure out what’s making the sounds in my own backyard.

My dad got this as a gift. Was a huge hit.

My kids’ dad is going to get this for a gift, and I hope it will be a huge hit. I also hope you get a little credit from Amazon — thanks for sharing!

I fixed the link that was broken. And yes, Chris, I get a little credit from Amazon.

Hey can you tell us more about the amazon click credit? Do you get credit if we click through, add it to our shopping bag, and then buy it later? Or do we have to buy it immediately after the click through? Or do you get credit for the click even if we don’t buy it?
I’m asking ’cause I want to support the sites I read that have these types of links, but am unsure if my normal ordering practices actually end up supporting the sites or not.

I don’t get credit for clickthroughs that don’t result in orders, but I do get credit for anything you buy after clicking from one of my links, even if it’s something totally unrelated. I believe that I get credit for anything you buy that day, but not things that you put in your bag and buy sometime later. And if your have your computer set to reject cookies, I probably don’t get any credit.
But seriously, don’t sweat it. I make something like $20 a year from Amazon — not enough to worry about.

Oh, cool, so you should get a credit for the bird book *and* the MTV 80s music CD that was lingering in the cart and I finally broke down and bought.
